Well I have good news for you, Rails3 is a merge of merb and rails. Even better, rails3 will be split into various package including a minimalistic core package called "rails-core" that is basically merb-core 2.0. You will be able to use any ORM with it, so just go for rails-core+DM and a few other packages that you need and you should be fine.
