I suspect you are just trolling but the only way to stop those planes was to shoot them down, along with the hundreds of innocent passengers on board. Would you have made that decision, in the few minutes between the time it became apparent what was happening, and the time the third plane hit the Pentagon? With the hundreds of planes in the air, would you be certain you were targeting the right one? We were simply caught completely by surprise, and a complete surprise is almost impossible to defend against. It really is not any more complicated than that.
