Actually IIRC there was at one point a small Dexter factory in China, Maine... The Skowhegan factory was actually in Corinna, or maybe there was another factory in Corinna....
I have a pair of Dexter boat shoes I bought in '93 to take on a student exchange to Germany. They need new laces but are otherwise fine. -Curt --- On Fri, 9/12/08, Wonko the Sane <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: From: Wonko the Sane <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [MBZ] Boots - was: Harbor Freight wrenches impress To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], "Mercedes Discussion List" <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Date: Friday, September 12, 2008, 8:20 PM I am still wearing hiking boots my ex's father gave me off of the Dexter shoe factory line (he was the factory foreman -- back when Dexter was not make in China but in Maine). Ex and I split in 1992, which gives you a clue as to the age of the boots. In fact, I wore these same boots during Pensacola flight training in 1981 -- had to get a waiver to wear non-issue boots. It was a no-brainer for the rule makers, given that they were far superior to what the military issued me. I had the only dry feet during the survival training weekend in Pensacola. They are still almost like they rolled off of the Skowhegan, Maine assembly line -- except the decades have formed them to my individual feet. My standard motorcycle riding attire. I probably only got 8-9 months out of them. I'm on my second pair of Colombias now, the first pair went 2 years in almost daily wear. The new pair was 2/3 the price of the first but still look like new after 6 months. -Curt -- LT Don http://don.homelinux.net/~don/ apt-get update apt-get upgrade The following packages will be replaced Prez Do you want to continue?
