Well that just truly sucks. Now I am going to have to do surgery and
incur wrath of SWMBA that I am spending time and money on keeping the
cheap car running. Not that she can bring herself to actually spend
the big cash on a newer car.

I'm sure. That little cable worked both ways, to ensure that the
key was on before/while the engine was spinning. The cable's
gotten stuck in the "Run" position. Just IMHO.
