I think we mostly got the religiously oppressed, and religious people who 
wanted to set up their own oppressive governments outside the control of 
England.  I remember an Australian remarking, during the Lewinsky scandal, 
"Thank God we got the criminals and they got the Puritans."  Sometimes I 
know exactly what he meant.  Sometimes I think the U.S. has the most 
up-tight attitudes towards sex this side of the Taliban.
