I got 31mpg (actually I think it was like 31.6, so almost 32) from my 240D once. I'm sure that if I took it on a long highway trip and could make myself keep the speed to say 60mph (would need working cruise) I could get 35. That'd require one of those brutal trips stopping only for fuel and peeing in a bottle while driving... ;)
