Most of the conversations I have read concerned the 4-matic wagons. They mostly seemed to need a rebuilt around 75K miles. If the car has a rebuilt transfer case than they were fine. If it hasn't been rebuilt yet than beware. I'm pretty sure this info came from Marshall. Ralph W.
