Well that assumes that you can find an owner idiot that will sell you a fixed perfect w140 for the same price as a broken w140. Since most of that money is going to fix faulty engineering it's hard for a smart owner to prevent it from becoming toast even if you do all the preventative maintenance. Blower regulators that melt, vacuum/ pressure pumps (two) which kick the bucket, an A/C system which requires you to replace the evaporator, and window regulators that break because the windows are heavy, let alone engine wiring harnesses that decompose because of the heat and the desire for easy recycling, helpfully frying your MAF.

Assuming you had to spend that much to fix everything that is broken would be a good bet you didn't buy it in the first place. If there is a lot that needs fixing its pretty much a sign that the previous owner was a idiot and didn't take care of it.
