I've been following (reading, not doing :) electric conversions since well before acquiring my Benz. They are way more advanced (and plug-and-play) than I was expecting when I started: evdl.org evalbum.com for some eye candy
Two of the big complaints on the list are chassis strength for the weight of lead-acid batteries (still the best KWh/$), and storage volume, since many conversions are Bug-sized. As I see it any of the W115/W123 bodies have both these problems licked, even flooded lead-acid deep-cycle batteries should slide right in without a horrible performance impact outside Connecticut. Unfortunately my driveway already has three too many inoperable vehicles so for now it's a project waiting for time, space, a donor Benz, and parts acquisition; or to put it another way, a thought experiment... If anyone does have an eBenz I'd love to see pictures and get the specs, BTW, but if you read this far you already know that. :) -Tim -----Original Message----- From: Wonko the Sane <don.b...@gmail.com> Date: Saturday, Feb 14, 2009 9:19 pm Subject: Re: [MBZ] Frankenheap failures, and rites of passage To: Mercedes Discussion List <mercedes@okiebenz.com>Reply-To: Mercedes Discussion List <mercedes@okiebenz.com> We probably have enough experience and intelligence (and I do not count >myself in either group) on this list to actually pull something like that off. > >On Sat, Feb 14, 2009 at 8:12 PM, OK Don <okd...@gmail.com> wrote: > >> I was thinking of an electric Triumph GT-6+ > >> > >-------------- next part -------------- >An HTML attachment was scrubbed... >URL: ><http://okiebenz.com/pipermail/mercedes_okiebenz.com/attachments/20090214/feb43594/attachment.html> >_______________________________________ >http://www.okiebenz.com >For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com >To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ > >To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: >http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com > _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
