oops, guess I did.. and Optima batteries are completely sealed so they don't 
leak or vent acidic fumes

You forgot "doesn't vent acidic fumes that promote corrosion".
Fortunately, the voltage on my old MBzs is lower than some cars,
which reduces battery gassing, but it still makes a difference if
you intend to still have the car when it's 30 years old.
