When I have the head off, Im going to have to rotate the engine around to get each piston at TDC to do the measuring, correct? Never had to do this before.

Once the cylinder was worn oval I'd expect some compression problems.
Once the head is off you can mike the piston heights directly and
see if a rod is bent.
