Thanks Dwight -
I appreciate you jogging my memory - Fortunately, I took the car back to the dealer who double and triple checked the ATF level. I am pretty confident they set it correctly as I mentioned just the problem you mentioned - and now I'm on record as being unsure of the level. So, if any further problems appear I believe I am covered. They also said the noise I heard was from the motor mount collapsing completely and the engine started rapping the exhaust. I measured the MM and sure enough - the new one is approx. 4" top to bottom and the old one is ~3" tall. I'll remove it tomorrow and replace the drivers side - which is the one they said was almost gone - and as soon as I get another MM will change that one also.

Thx agn -

Larry,
Hate to say this-remember the John Peterson saga a few years when an Indy
shop overfilled the tranny on his 91 300D 2.5t and he cooked tranny on a 10 mile drive home? Because Indy failed to follow his instruction on draining the TC, the Indy's ins co paid to replace the tranny with rebuilt from MB-he
had to use lawyer-Snook??

Hi All -
After thinking my local dealer had done a good job, today I get a call from my wife telling me the car is making a noise. Only starts when above ~20mph and only gets louder with speed - not faster (the noise). All gauges are in
normal ranges. No lights.

She pulls up at home and I hear little when idling , see nothing in the
engine compartment so I check the ATF level - it's waaay high. Probably 2"
above the normal lines. This after my wife drove home approx 20 mi. So I
know it was fully warmed up.

Tried to call the dealer but my service advisor was at lunch - I want to get on record something's not right & I suspect they overfilled the tranny. I
haven't removed the excess ATF yet - in case they want to tow it in and
check it out. But I'm worried because the tranny was in such great
condition before this.

Are the W124 trannies are suseptible to damage from overfilling as others?

Any comments?

Thx
