Glad to hear that the noise was not the tranny. Curious that the dealer tech drained off a quart and then replaced it with fresh in order to make sure he had the level correct.

As far as the noise I heard - they said the motor mount had completely collapsed and allowed the engine to tap the exhaust when driving. So tomorrow I'll replace the drivers MM and we'll see. But I'm still baffled by my difficulty in getting an accurate ATF level - seems like such a simple task - never had a problem in the past. It's comforting to know you had a similar problem. (misery loves comfort). BTW, I did check it the way you suggested - checked both in Park and N. Oh well, as long as I know what's needed.
