Diesel engine is more efficient to start with, so the gains are small when playing with electric hybrids.

I'm thinking of marketing an optimal hybrid vehicle
(diesel-electric) against a traditional gasser.
You know: "It gets 50, not 22, who cares if it uses
diesel?"

Marketing DE against D, yes the gains are much smaller.
Would be more of a performance thing there.  A little
sipper of a diesel engine yet accelerates very well
due to the electric boost.
