Dimitri, I hope I haven't confused you, I have two threads going, one for my Wife's Infiniti which just got a new battery but still has hard-to-start condition plus O2 sensor codes, second thread is for '87 300TD with alternator light woes and many minor irritating noises but no new battery. One of the symphony of noises is the belt tensionser, maybe I'll find out that another is the alternator's death knell?

Is this true? Yesterday it even briefly came on twice while I was driving to work. Is this most likely the voltage regulator? Is the proper test to measure voltage at the battery, pass is 13.5 volts or greater, but less than 14.5 volts?
