Thanks Curt, I'm going to check the belt and then probably pull the VR package and check the brushes.

In my experience it means the alternator is toast. I went through that many many times with my 240D before getting a good McParts one. Learn from my mistakes, don't buy a McParts alternator... Voltage regulator is worth a shot though. -Curt Date: Tue, 8 Dec 2009 07:56:50 -0500 From: "Dillon, Meade M CIV SPAWARSYSCEN-ATLANTIC, 53310" <meade.m.dil...@navy.mil> Subject: [MBZ] ALTERNATOR LIGHT WOE To: "Mercedes Discussion List" <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Message-ID: <1370e90cffd2ac4b8cb65267ba10c4b801db9...@naeachrlez02v.nadsusea.nads.navy.mil> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" All, In the last few weeks, on my '87 300TD with 317k miles, my alternator light has started to glow faintly at times, usually right after starting. Yesterday it even briefly came on twice while I was driving to work. Is this most likely the voltage regulator? Is the proper test to measure voltage at the battery, pass is 13.5 volts or greater, but less than 14.5 volts? Very respectfully, /s/ Max Dillon '87 300TD 317k miles '95 E300 274k miles '73 Balboa 20 Charleston SC _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
