Dave Meimann, when he was still active on the old Benz lists, always said that the Duralast red top battery at Autozone was the best price vs. performance deal for a Group 49 battery of sufficient CCAs to start a diesel in cold weather. I've owned several of the red tops and never found any reason to doubt him.
