Interesting. I am not sure what made it super. It sounds like a regular M, but as we know, IH did a lot of variety. OF all the H models I have driven and looked at, each one is distinctive, either from the factory, or from owner modification, or use/wear. Mostly from factory differences.

My current H, I could never figure out until recently. It has a transmission so tight, it seems like new. The frame shows where something was bolted to it for years.. I always figured it was a loader. But the belt pulley drips grease bad. Last summer I started spinning the belt pulley by hand, and the bearings sounded real noisy. That made no sense if it was a loader tractor. One day it occurred to me that it had a front mounted woodsaw. A woodsaw tractor would not put wear on the transmission, but could wear out the belt pulley. I think the thing had a woodsaw mounted from the beginning until just before I got it.

Yup, '52 Gen I Super M, battery box is under the gas tank so theres no place for the live hyd to live. I forget when they switched but the battery box moves under the seat and they hyd pump goes under the tank. I appreciate the relative simplicity of mine, and the shorter battery cables are a plus.

IIRC there are 3 generations of Super M and then the Super MTA...

I'd like to have one of the diesel versions that started on gas. I saw one running a shingle mill a couple years ago, cool machine.

You sure your M is a super? I thought ALL the Super series had live
hyd. But, IH was known for customizing a lot, so if somebody really
wanted an M w/o live hyd, they probably would make it for you. Have
you looked up the year of Mfg. by serial number?
