It's a very fun hobby, and even better when it does pay for itself! This hasn't been the case until I started a new strategy, buying RC trucks that are the most popular, durable and have good parts support in the area. It doesn't matter how good of a truck it is if no one wants it or the parts support isn't the best. I like picking them up used for cents on the dollar when they are sorely in need of tuning and/or cleaning and repairs, much like the list owner does with Mercedes. I bought two team Associated RC10GT2 nitro-powered trucks for $160 that needed about $20 in parts and a good cleaning and tuning to be perfect. It's $300 for a new one. After owning them for a couple months, I only found myself driving one of them so decided to sell one off. I also sold my brushed electric Traxxas slash which left me $20 short of the new electric Traxxas rustler VXL Brushless I wanted. It has pretty good resale value, but I have no reason to sell it since it's about all the speed I can handle (even faster than the gasser) and waterproof too. It is warranted to go 6 feet underwater! Try that with a Mercedes Diesel! :D
