Our daughter loves Jay Leno & watches him on cable here in Oz.
Our LA stay from 1st - 5th June is with the school teacher, official
parent & children. I doubt whether the teacher would let her away for
something like that.
However we are returning to LA for our flight back to Australia - leave
late on 29th June. May look at getting back there 27 or 28th June to do
some stuff as a family.
We would all love an opportunity to go to something like the Tonight
Show if possible & would be really appreciative if you could look into it.
Thank you very much for the offer Curt.

So the train sounds like a good price. Expedia.com says ~$350US per person
roundtrip.
LA is another city not unlike Boston where "Greater LA" will tend to be
referred to as LA. There are no film studios in LA proper anymore, they're in Burbank, or
Hollywood or Studio City.
You'll find the trains here unlike Europe but probably not bad. I've only run
the corridor between Boston and NYC which is a nice run. We also went from
Albany to Niagara Falls for our honeymoon which was also quite pleasant.
I'll probably be in LA the week after you leave although I won't know for
another month or more. If you want I can still see about tickets to the Tonight
Show. A friend of mine used to run the NBC news bureau in LA so he's got
connections.

Definitely doing Disney - our 9 year old son is really looking forward
to that. Our 14 year old daughter is not interested at all she'd rather
go to the Getty Museum!
We will be in LA from 1 June - staying at Holiday Inn Buena Park -
flying to Chicago 5 June.
We are slowing informing ourselves about distances in LA, I have been
told there a more people in LA then Australia - our population is around
20million.
Train fare from Milwaukee to La Crosse for 2 adults, 1 child USD$110.00
one way been on Amtrak website.
Travel agent reckoned Chicago to La Crosse one way is USD$600 per
person! Don't know what airline didn't bother asking.
We have a love of train travel: 12 years ago we did 2 month round Europe
on the trains with a two year old in tow & 3 year ago we did the length
of Vietnam by train.
Thanks to all your responses maybe driving is the way to go, it's
Hendrik's choice as he will be doing most of the driving
