In the case of the powerchoke, the tie rods themselves were not 
interchangeable from left to right. Depending on how much part they sold you,
that is a possibility.

Interesting, that would have been my first guess. It could be that NAPA
blew it, it could be just an error in their books. I had a problem with a
NAPA drag link on the powerchoke - sheared the bolt clean off the ball joint
where it meets the pitman arm, fortunately right in front of the house. I 
got another one from them, and needless to say, have been watching it like a
hawk since. I'm considering carrying a spare ball joint for it for when I
go to the desert next month. NOT a place you want to lose steering.
