I know somebody who was carjacked in the late 1980s, somebody stuck a gun in his face and stole the first car he'd ever owned. He'd had that POS since high school. I don't know if it was a real carjacking or if somebody from Ford set it up so he'd quit parking a rusted out 1970 VW Beetle in the employee lot at Ford HQ. He bought a new Festiva to replace it. A few years later, people were chiding him for 'not supporting the company' by buying a new car often enough. Since the Festiva was off the market, it was obvious he hadn't bought a new car in over a year.
