Most amazing modern American car I ever drove was the Chevrolet Caprice, a
veritable "boat" of a car.  My son and I rented one (they were out of
compacts!) and took it all over the West back in 1991.  It handled amazingly
well and was surprisingly nimble for such a huge vehicle.  And we did
appreciate the capacious interior as well.
