They were told what to expect when and after it went off. Probably were told is was a really powerful bomb that was hoped to end the war and save lives. It was, and it did. To the plane crew, it was pretty much just another day at work, until later when they learned what it was and what it did. But then it is done. No undoing it. no redos.

I wonder if the pilots had any idea what they were carrying?  Other than
"a really big bomb"
