Believe that worked, Russ. Got a black screen (I've forgotten what it's called) and dozens of lines of (code?) scrolled down it. Rebooted and program kept the hd busy for a few minutes. Been working on this thing off and on all evening; a real challenge.
Thanks much,
Gerry

Go here : http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools
Download the AVG Remover for O/S either 32 bit or 64 bit. Run it.You may
have to reboot.
If that doesn't remove it from loading in the Taskbar Open CCleaner
Click on Tools Then Startup Button. Disable any reference to AVG. That
should do the trick.

Tried it but still see AVG buttons on the C-menu and the Taskbar.

<right_click> remove from this list?
Mitch.

Been doing that Mitch but either nothing happens or the AVG buttons provide
a list of other things to do.
