They gotta make up the gas tax somehow. So you pay a premium to feeeeel good then another tax to make up for the gas you aren't burning and the pollution you are spewing (from the tailpipe anyway) and pretty soon your smugness might be a bit less forthright. At least until the rest of the tax-paying population increases the subsidies for your Care More approach to motoring.
