I dont see how, maybe it was just a coincidence, or maybe they drained
the diff for some strange reason and did not fill it back up? Did they
swap the diff as well to match the 85 engine/trans? Thats the deal is
the 85 has different diff to go with the different trans. If so, swap
your old one back in. Dont you have a parts car? Cant remember but if
so just swap it out. I had a BUNCH of diffs but I sent them all to the
crusher.

If its a worn out diff it will not whine that much if at all when you put
it in neutral because there is no load on it. Even going down the road if
you give it throttle it will whine, let off it will quiet down because there
is no load on it.
