Son to MTU reminds me: # 1 grandson leaves Tuesday night for a year's study in France as his junior year at UNC-CH; 'hope Air France has the bugs work out of the 380's etc.

Subject: Re: [MBZ] OT - Plymouth van tranny question

Update - the van worked fine for SWMBO following the scare and running in
second only event. Son had LOTS of stuff that we HAD to take to MTU, so we
took the risk and loaded up the van to the extent that I couldn't see out
the rear window. Son's 190D was almost as full. We left Tuesday AM for
Houghton, MI, arrived Wednesday evening. Found an apartment Thursday, and
finished setting him up for the coming year Friday. Head back to OK Sat. AM,
got home 2 hours ago. 2363 miles.
The van performed flawlessly. The VERY slow driving through MI was
compensated with 25 mpg usage by the van, which is an all-time high for it. Son's standard tranny 190D 2.2 averaged 42 mpg over the trip up. This car is
3 years older than he is - and also performed flawlessly.
Now, back to the daily grind for some rest!

Yup - I've definitaly crossed to the dark side, I have an ML!

No codes to be read. I cleaned the battery posts, didn't see anything else to clean. I'll change the tranny fluid and filter, they're getting close to
being due anyway.
SWMBO will be driving it this coming week, I'll be keeping my fingers
crossed.

Yeah... that's what you get for going to the dark side and driving one of
those silly little computer controlled machines..... Come back to the
dependable mechanical Mercedes era when something broke off you could see
it
hanging and duct tape it in place till you got home. :))

I wonder how many cars and Iphones will fail when this next round of super
sun spots hits... or god forbid we have a nuke EMP somewhere flash the
sensitive electronics everyone has come to depend on. I don't see a happy
ending.
