Speaking of climate change - there's a interesting program on the History Channel about the ittle ice age - around 1000 AD it warmed up, causing people to start growing *really* good grapes in England - people moved there to enjoy the nice weather - all was fine for a couple hundred years - then it turned colder - 4F in 10 years - crops failed, people starved, people (and animals) started staying cramped together indoors which promoted the spread of disease and the plague wiped out 25 milllion people. Even the Norsemen couldn't withstand the cold & most died out. People allowed some of their children to die so the others would have enough to eat. Hansel & Gretle is supposedly about this practice.

They use tree ring dating to confirm some of this info -

Anyway - I caught bits and pieces of the show while working on the car so I missed a lot but I bet it'll be on again.

In any case, the cycle of warm and cold climate change is a ever happening circumstance. People may not be as responsible for the current (mild @ 1F per 100 years) warming trend - much more damage might have occurred during the 1800s and early 1900s with widespread wood burning, coal burning as well as many 1000's of oil filled ships torpedoed or otherwise burned and sunk during the 2 big wars. With our hugely more economical cars which as recently as the 60s were lucky to get 15mpg - now it's not unusual to get nearly double that in most large cars (my 97 Chrysler Concord got 26). Along with much more miserly heat pumps and 20% of electr being generated by nuke power - we should be seen as less responsible for climate change rather than more so.

Or I could be wrong. ;-)

In France, some of them tried using Barbary Apes about five years ago.
Almost as hard to control as turkeys.
