Hot hot water with white vinegar. Sponge on, sponge off (or suck back out with 
a wet/dry vac. Replace water when it becomes nasty. Air out the car for a 
couple days. Pay special attention to the headliner.

Despite the marketing Febreze just masks odor. I find the smell of Febreze 
totally nasty...

I got a 1997 E320 for the wife to replace the C280 but the owner was a smoker. 
Febreze last about an hour. How do I get rid of the smell short of replacing 
all the carpet, leather and headliner?
