I think there are two good solutions: 1) Wait (a long time) until a good crash free one appears on eBay and exchange it. It happens, believe me.
2) Buy a black one and spray it blue. Exchanging the dash is a lot of work, but not unreasonable or as bad as you might think... you can do it in a few hours. Once upon a time, I bought crack free blue dash for a W201 on ebay and exchanged it... it was surprisingly easy. But with the dash removed, the interior looks like a bomb went off it in and its somewhat intimidating!
