The locals said it was an uncommon summer. It sure was not what I
expected the climate to be like. The short time I spent in the
peninsula (redwood City) in an April sure was nice. It was at a time
when SF and the north bay was washing away and cold.
I find that odd, as San Jose is in the South Bay, where it is pretty
much temperate compared with the rest of the area.
It's not uncommon for the South Bay to be well into the 90s in the
summer while just 20 miles to the north it's in the 60s.

Lesson learned: if you go anywhere in CA ya better take a sweater or
jacket.
My father related one time when he was activated in the Navy. He left
Miles City, MT, with temperatures of -35 deg.F. and took the train to
Tacoma, WA. He felt colder there at +30 deg.F. than he did in Miles City.

My son went to San Josie in May and left in Dec. a couple of years
ago. All summer every picture we saw, they had on jackets. Most
of the time they said it was cold and windy. Meanwhile, it was
nice here for the summer.
