You bought a car in Maryland and wish to title & tag it in your home state of Indiana. Just drive it back with the paperwork in the car. If you have a signed title then there shouldn't be any problem. When I have purchased cars out of state I have either (a) slapped one of my current tags on it and driven it with the title in my possession, (b) driven with the previous owners tags, or (c) titled & tagged it when I was at home and flew out to the vehicle, bolted my tag on it, and driven it back.
