There is no reason why you would not have valid insurance unless you were purposely avoiding it. The two scenarios I have personally used are:
1.) Purchasing a vehicle I am replacing an existing one with I have 30 days to notify the carrier, but I am covered automatically - State Farm/Allstate. 2.) Purchasing a new vehicle (adding to the policy) I only have to notify the insurer upon purchase - Allstate (don't know about State Farm on this.) When I bought Tony's 300E, before I left with the car I called Allstate's 800 number, gave them the details, and I was covered. I did have a copy of my insurance card with me as well.
