55 is too high.  Try 35, maybe.  Or perhaps 10 degrees over
ambient.  You're just trying to keep it 'dry'.

You're trying to keep relative humidity reasonable, and probably trying to keep pipes not in living spaces above freezing. If you have a basement, you're trying to keep the earth contacting the basement walls from freezing and pushing them in.
