I read the Times, so I followed that. It is possible to build successful
desal plants, however, and that may be Tampas solution in the long run.
Read a research report not long ago about the development of a new type
desal barrier that will reduce the pressure necessary to force water through
it; thereby costing less to operate. It's still in the pilot stage so it
may or may not prove feasible.

The desal plant was a major boondoggle that never met expectations and
ended up costing us (taxpayers) millions to even make it marginally
functional.
I haven't checked on it recently, but last I heard it was running, but
with a minimal effect on the system as a whole.
We have a good grey water system in many parts of the County that is used
for lawns and irrigation. Reclaimed water is readily available in many
areas, and is mandatory for most new construction.

time.
We have finally dropped in to the almost daily late afternoon showers
cycle. It's been a long time since that has happened.
