Easy enough to test but it wouldn't make it cycle between hot and cold I don't think.

Don't know if that is the Klima relay or not but when it happened to me the AC compressor also ran just like it should but the air came out hot. That almost lead me to doing the replacement thing till I remembered that the same thing happened on my daughter's 83 SD about a year ago. We changed the monovalve, the relay and did the pushbutton resolder. Nothing helped until we changed # 14 fuse. So that's why I checked the plug on the Monovalve and had no 12 volt there so checked the fuse and it looked good but when I put a new one in everything worked like it should again. Hope it's the same with yours.
