I've done that on a 123 also but in this case either the wrench was pointed in 
the wrong direction (needing the jack to pull it down) or was at such an angle 
because of the strut being in the way that I couldn't make it work.

BTW I didn't heat the bolt, I heated the casting the bolt goes into. If you 
heat the bolt it expands and gets tighter in the hole. When you heat the 
casting the space gets bigger and the bolt comes out.

On my 123s and 126s I've had to resort to a jack under the end of the
wrench, using the weight of the car to apply force.  That has worked well.
I think those bolts are heat-treated alloy, I wonder if the blue wrench
might weaken them.  MB recommends new bolts  when replacing these, and it
might be a good idea if heat is applied.
