When I was resurrecting my '87 wagon, I measured the battery voltage dropping
to 8.5 volts while cranking.

For the next week that I drove it, starting performance was less than
satisfactory. In my opinion it took too long to start, and the cranking speed
was too slow.

Sunday night she failed to start. Turned through a cylinder or two of
compression and stopped. Battery measures 12.5 volts, but I failed to measure
cranking voltage. When I try to start it, all lights come on, big click from
the starter solenoid, no crank.

I'm thinking battery, which is four years old, but has been allowed to go flat
a couple times.
