I disagree. They have different qualities that make each one quite good. Ford uses a similar technology in heavy trucks. They use a spring instead of compressed air.
I used to play paintball and the high pressure tanks on the fancy markers were called nitrogen tanks, they were simply charged with a high output, multi stage air compressor. Interesting using air as the spring. It is compressed with a hydraulic pump that then uses it's pressure to charge the air tank to around 3600psi. Brilliant, should last forever with near zero drag on the driveline and the possibility of retrofitting the technology to vehicles currently made without a whole new design.
