I still worked in phone support when PCIe first came out and it was a but 
hassle because it replaced PCI-X and many many people thought PCI-X meant PCI 
Express. It doesn't, it means PCI eXtended.
I wish they'd called the new standard Quick PCI or PCIQ or anything without an 
x in it...

Thanks for the corrections.  I'm 'way behind on computer technology since 
Win98 and I've forgotten a lot too.

Your mistake here is thinking PCI and PCI Express are the same thing. They 
aren't.
PCI Express is also known as PCIe, its a much smaller slot. You'll want a 
PCIe card.
Your other mistake is overusing the word "modem". The only time its 
appropriate in your whole email is "DSL Modem". Every other time you used it 
you meant "network card".
