They were.  In fact, we used to go to a boat ramp at the barge canal to put 
their boat in the water.

For anyone not familiar with it, the re was an effort many, many years ago to 
dig a canal across the state of Florida in order to allow traffic from the Gulf 
to get to the Atlantic without having to go through the Straits of Florida.

The portion that was competed is just north of Crystal River and goes inland a 
ways before itt stops, I believe.

The nuke plant was a frightening place.  The stories I could tell you would 
make you swear to never, ever allow the use of nuclear energy ever again.  
Granted, it was due to the incompetence of the operators at the time, but 
still, it was frightening none the less.
