My cars have names too:

1983 300TD - The wagon
1985 300CD - The coupe (or blue coupe)
1970 280SE 3.5 - The green coupe (to distinguish it from the other 2 door
model)

Brilliant or clever?  Not really.  Effective and clear?  Yes
