One time coming back from LA US Air's system locked right up so it took 10-15 minutes per person to check in. I missed my flight and ended up in the line. The lady in front of me vented forever while the guy figured out a way to eventually get her home. When I stepped up the first thing I said was "I know this isn't your fault, want a granola bar?" I always pack granola bars when I travel. He didn't take my granola bar but I got put onto United for a direct flight home, no muss, no fuss...

Airlines have been mostly poor in that regard for years, so the mergers and high load factors are attempts to build revenues and profits, with a lowering of customer service and any semblance of pleasure in your flying, which comes from saving a buck and shaving costs. It has become like ridin the dog but with smaller seats. One thing to remember about flying that I learned early on. That person behind the desk or the FA on your airplane is the ONLY person who can help you get what you need or want. Treat him or her nicely and respectfully and your chance of getting what you want/need goes up exponentially. Most of them are hating the way things are going worse than you are because they have to deal with all the other jerks all day long. You would be surprised at what a kind word or a brief friendly conversation might get you in the midst of madness all around. --R _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
