Wow! that is good to hear, but I am not surprised. Congrats! He has been very gracious about answering my questions. So far, I have never had to buy a trans from him..... yet.....

My half million mile SDL junker is shifting just fine after a fluid and filter change. The others are all doing ok, except the 811 240D, and I need to follow the steps SV has online to adjust it. Just never had the time to dedicate to it, cause I am not driving it. It is in reserve status.

I talked to Mark at SV. Whoever said he seems like a good guy is correct.

Since there really aren't any problems with the transmission, he said it should be easier to rebuild. So he cut me a deal from the normal rebuilt/core exchange price of $1750. He will scoop it up tomorrow from my mechanic and take it back there on Thursday. Nice coincidence that he drives right by there every day on his commute.

Anyway you guys probably saved me four or five hundred dollars, so thanks very much.
Diesel list rules! Time for a SoCal get together!

I paid a local highly recommended Mercedes mechanic $2500.00 to remove, rebuild, reinstall the tranny on 82 300SD. Sadly, I sold the car and the new owner totaled it sold it to recycler without talking to me.

I only have hearsay, which is: you don't want just any tranny shop

Ok so I am on a quixotic quest to eliminate oil leaks from my 1985 wagon.
The insurance from my recent fender bender guy pulling out in front of me
left me with about 2k to spend on other items.

The tranny leaks from the front seal. Enrique wants 2k to pull, rebuild
with all new seals and clutches and reinstall. 400 to fix the seal alone.

It has 182k on it and shifts like a dream. What does the peanut gallery
think about 1600 extra for a rebuild since the slush box is coming out
 anyway?

I know it ain't cheap but I drive it every day to work in Beverly Hills
and it is lots less than a bugatti. I just don't want it staining up the
drive at preschool, neighbors house, home etc.

 Comments please.

 Karl
