Weather is what is happening in the atmosphere locally on a day-to-day basis. Climate is the general, long term condition caused by atmospheric conditions over a large area.

Bonus points to anyone who knows the difference between weather and climate.

Not exactly ...

It can, but the political fear mongering's consequence will be to destroy
the United States (they are at it in several ways) and boost up the rest
of the world. This will be bad for the people in the U.S. and for those
dependent upon us. China won't be affected, though they put out more
pollutants than we do. Prosperous nations are concerned about pollution;
poor nations are not. Prosperous nations' citizens are treated fairly
well; poor nations' citizens are not.

Or honeybees disappearing because, as is starting to be shown, systemic
insecticides made by the Bayer company contribute to colony collapse
disorder.

I'm not advocating raw capitalism. Without capitalism, though, things
would be much worse.

You misunderstand. The "powers that be" want "the whole enchilada" for
themselves, not for us.

We will have to wait and see ...
