I agree that it behaves as if there is a physical block preventing coolant from circulating but let's say a blown headgasket or crack in head is pushing exhaust gases into cooling system- will this not cause the water pump to get air locked and no longer be able to pump? With blown headgasket coolant is essentially being replaced with exhaust gas? As Curt says the new tstat is high quality and works but it's not OE. Can this really make such a difference? The water pump looks perfect, the impeller blades exhibit no corrosion, it spins smoothly and there is no play. The vent line "E" should be checked. It appears to be a narrow exterior steel line. I should see if this can be checked for patency.
