Anyone have any luck doing anything with stuff like this?

I've had very good luck keeping things with real power switches
going. Things with push-on/push-off always on circuitry,
and switching power supplies --- not so much. The TV got fixed,
but only by wholesale replacement of the power supply board.

SMPS's are usually slightly tricky circuitry, and component
values may be critical. Also, as feedback systems, you have
to get it all fixed right the first time, or it just takes
itself out again.
