Gasoline fuel injection was old news by the time the vette came along. 300SL , not to mention all the DB aircraft engines that were setting speed and altitude records in the 30s

personally I prefer "409" anyway as a song, or the 389 3 deuce goat engine, as an American muscle car engine

I can remember when 911s came in three flavors:
911T = carbs
911E = Einspritzer
911S = Super (Einspritzer but with more power)

About the time I was being born, fuel injection was a very rare
and expensive option on the Corvette.

Remember this?

He's hot with ram induction but it's understood
I got a fuel injected engine sittin' under my hood

Verse from "Shut Down" - Brian Wilson (song about a drag race
between a 413 Dodge and a fuelie Corvette)
