The Big Contest has ended. It was quite exciting, for me at least.
Here is the denouement. It was a very close call. I was actually quite
pleased at how little I spent compared to my initial guess, which was a
couple hundred dollars above actual cost. I probably would have saved $50
if I had the time to order from Autohaus AZ, although not sure if the
quality would have been equivalent. Both Napa and Advance Auto were able
to have my parts delivered in a day or less.
Break down:
Two rear rotors from Advance Auto (Brembo brand) - $72.50
Pair of generic hoses, rear brake pads, and rebuilt calipers (Napa) -
331.85
Less core for return of old calipers
*(110.12)* Total cost for
parts $294.23
3 hrs. labor to install calipers, rotors, hoses, pads $238.94 (includes
$13.94 for shop materials)
Grand total: $533.17

Congratulations to Randy for being just $16.83 above the actual total.
Curt finished second, $33.17 lower.
Randy, Winnipeg Customs will probably either confiscate/eat or collect 250%
duty on, a jar of artisanal jelly. I can still ship, or let me know a
designee (proxy?). I will need a physical address.
